Industrial Ecology

Industrial Ecology

The Practice of Ecological Industry – Changing the Paradigm One Industry At A Time…

What is industrial ecology?

Industrial Ecology (IE) focuses on combining perpetually desirable outcomes in environment, economy and technology sustainably. There is a whole discipline growing up out of this concept.

Here we apply IE as the practice of utilizing technology to economically effectuate environmentally sound industrial wastewater treatment. Not escaping us is the ironic fact that Integrated Engineers (IE) practices IE.

The central tenet of IE is the looking at technical systems analogously to natural systems, continuous perpetual systems (closed loops) rather than straight line linear start to finish thinking.

Isn’t Industrial Ecology a Contradiction in Terms?

No. Industrial ecology seems sort of like a contradiction in terms in the old school paradigm of thought but is anything but today, it is not only a complementary process but beneficial to all sub-processes.. And industrial ecology truly is essentially carrying out industry in an ecologically sensitive manner usually based on standards established by governments but also on the shared values of shareholders, manufacturers and consumers.

This concept of “industrial ecology” is part of the green technology movement.

Industrial ecology is moving industrial processes from linear (open loop, start to finish) systems where you usually wind up with waste, to a closed loop (feedback) system where waste is converted to inputs for the same process (wastewater recovery) or new processes such as sludge being used on fields as fertilizer. This is theoretically a perpetual enterprise meaning “sustainable”, can be sustained indefinitely.

“Sustainable” is one of the primary tenets of the “green technology” movement.

Why is Industrial Ecology Desirable?

Industrial ecology is desirable because as it approaches the unifying of environment, economy and ecology it benefits them all simultaneously, in a sense increasing “profits” for all three!

Industrial Ecology and Integrated Engineers Inc.

Practicing IE is a natural for IE, pun intended.

Integrated has been striving to assist industrial wastewater treatment reclaim materials and wastewater from the waste stream for many years, and is perfecting it to a fine art.

Ecologic Houses For Energy Saving

Ecologic Houses For Energy Saving

In these times of increased energy costs, global warming caused by the greenhouse effect, researches on renewable and ecologically sustainable energy sources, one of the biggest challenges is the one to make our houses more efficient and less dependent from energy demand.

Ecologic houses are no more a utopia, but a reality. More and more enterprises apply on this field, that is in the construction or refurbishment of real estate properties to make them satisfy these needs of energy efficiency and energy saving. For whom wants to live his first house in harmony with the environment, the possibilities now exist and are not just a few.

Especially in the north of Italy, there are a lot of construction enterprises that decided to commit on designing and constructing ecologic houses.
Energy saving houses is a very interesting theme for all consumers and combined with the coming into force of the new regulation on energy certification for buildings, it represents the most actual theme in the construction sector. We just have to think that in notarized buying and selling deeds, also the buildings performances resulting from the energy demand certification have to be reported. This to understand how much this new is important both for builders, that have to conform to minimum standard required by the regulation, and for the buyers, that will have to buy with clarity, being aware of the house performance in relation with the price requested by the vendor.

For the field of restoration and construction of ecological houses seems to appear a very interesting future, given that their performances are well above the minimum required by the more restrictive legislation which will come into force in 2009 and thus provide users with exceptional advantages in terms of energy savings relative to their costs of construction. According to the annual energy consumption per square meter, the houses are classified in categories A, B, C, D, E, F and G in terms of its annual consumption of heat per unit area.

In Italy, the home heating and the heating of sanitation water is the second leading cause of pollution, just after the traffic, and represents over 15% of national energy consumption. In northern Italy regions, the heating of houses accounts for more than 70% on energy consumption of households.
Such consumption is strongly linked to the type of “envelope” with which the house is built, and there is almost always very high room for improvement. An extreme case but that illustrates the technological possibilities is that of “passive houses”, houses greatly isolated in which there are no heating system powered by conventional sources (gas, diesel etc.), but that, to maintain the internal temperature, exploit only solar contributions and those of internal activities (household, presence of people etc.)..
The orientation towards the south, and the presence of shade, are other aspects of fundamental importance in terms of energy, to be taken into account during the design of a building. The south orientation and the presence of shade are other aspects of fundamental importance in terms of energy, to be taken into account during the design of a building. A proper sunlight exposure makes it possible to exploit the most solar heat in winter and instead reduce the exposure in summer.

Strongly behind the best European standards, our built heritage is still very deficient in this aspect. But margins of improvement are impressive, the technologies exist, and now the time to invest on them has come!

What Role Does Ecology Play In Personal Success?

What Role Does Ecology Play In Personal Success?

Is your adaptive unconscious sabotaging your success? If you have found thoughts or behaviors stopping your from achieving success even when you have made a conscious commitement. You need to read this article. Dr. Patrick Porter will teach you about unconscious ecolgy and the role it plays in change.

Article:
Could you failure to activate personal success br linked to self-sabotage? This isn’t the type of sabotage that you would normally suspect or even give time to? What I am talking about is a part of your unconscious called the adaptive unconscious. This part of your mind is trained to predict and then aviod pain, displeasure or stress.

The adaptive unconscious doesn’t set out to cause you to fail. It is working along a complex blueprint that has been developing since the momnet you were born and in many cases it has been proven even in the womb.

This part of your mind doesn’t just look at the benefits of a current action it takes into account how this thought or this action is going to play into your total psychology.

There is something that we call ecology. In the same way in nature there are ecological consequences to building a factory. You have to make sure that you don’t damage the water table or perhaps cause air pollution. Even though the factory would create jobs and is good for the economy the factory might be bad for the ecology. In that cause the factory might not be built.

Within our mind we also have ecology. Believe or not at this moment in time you are making all the best choices you can with all the information you have at hand. We are providing you with new information, new options, and alternatives using the other-than-conscious part of your mind.

With in this process today I am going to ask is that you listen to your own inner-self. That part of yourself that say, “This is ecological for me, this is safe for me to do.”

As you practice using your mind it is important that you get a clear sense of what you want to accomplish, but equally important you need to know when you are off course. If you are not accomplishing the goals that you have set for yourself. Then that is the time for you to take a real hard look at what are you losing, or have to give up when you accomplish this new goal. That will be the sign that you are disrupting your minds eco system.

Be ready to let go of where you are so you can get to where you want to be. I often tell clients in order to do what you want to do. You must be willing to do what you need to do. This is where praqcticing at the other than-conscious level comes into play. I go into more detail on this in my book “Awaken the Genius, Mind Technology for the 21st Century.” Every person has a “genius” it is alabout letting it out to play.

When you are at home in a safe place practice your creative visulization, relaxation techniques. Place yourself in the future and allow your mind explore all the positive outcomes and use senereo planning to discover and potential limitations in your plan. By practicing with a relaxed mind you free up both your inner creativity and your inner critic giving both equal time to explore. Once you have discovered potential pitfalls learn to take steps to aviod or overcome them. Then focus 100% of your energy on success.

Green Ecological Products Can Help Save the Earth

Green Ecological Products Can Help Save the Earth

Green ecological products are becoming more popular, we now recognize those companies that realize the importance of green ecological products. Our efforts to preserve earth to have clean water, clear skies and contaminate free soil, trying to reverse our current path of filling the air and water and soil with toxins and contaminants, perhaps we can return to a pristine earth by choosing green ecological products, we will be taking steps in the right direction. If you have noticed the various forms of pollution and the damage they cause to the world around us harming the ecosystems, animals and humans, it’s plain to see the importance of choosing green ecological products.

There are various different categories for Green ecological products to go under.

organic certified, in general it means produced without pesticides or harmful fertilizes, a good choice for a green ecological product. Britannica defines it as the following “there’s some variation: the National Organic Standards Board considers organic agriculture to be “an ecological production management system that promotes and enhances biodiversity, biological cycles and soil biological activity. It is based on minimal use of off-farm inputs and on management practices that restore, maintain and enhance ecological harmony.”

Green A green product, is environmentally and socially responsible, respectful of the world and the natural environment, it is a term used more so in the electronic industry, but also applies to many other industries as they aim to use less harmful components, bio-plastics less packaging, trying to eliminate harmful chemicals like fire retardants, all things green ecological.

Environmentally friendly has two dictionary definition they are #1 ‘Not damaging to the environment, or directed at preventing environmental damage.’ #2 ‘Minimizing harm to natural world: designed to minimize harm to the natural world, e.g. by using biodegradable ingredients. So being friendly to the environment is definitely doable, and these green ecological products can become more commonplace’

Fair trade, It is a socially conscious program that prevents the workers from being exploited, and ensuring they get a fair wage, a popular fair trade program has been associated with coffee such as kicking horse and Jane Goodall’s brand.

Recycled, things are new products made from old, be it of plastic cardboard metal paper or glass, these materials are given a new lease of life, or by simply donating used items to thrift stores.

Sustainable Forestry, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) put their mark on products that respect the forest ecosystems, wildlife habitats, local communities and water quality, to meet their standards, the wood and resulting products are tracked from beginning to end for complying to the correct standards.

Green ecological products come in all forms, but invariably are of some benefit to our world, it is also possible to choose products that can be recycled like paper, or provide recycling such as composters, an invaluable service highly recommend, worms or standard composters and the composting toilet, helping to keep sewage out of the ocean. Reducing waste input to landfills and methane gas production is an important consideration for individuals and industries although some resourceful companies have been able to harness the methane output and to use it for manufacturing thus producing green ecological products.

Ecology College Online Teaches Environmental Education and Training Worldwide

{thumbnail}

Monaco, Monte Carlo (PRWEB) January 12, 2005

The Ecology College Online now teaches, beginning in January, 2005, an online-taught Bachelor of Science [B.S.] degree program in Ecology, available worldwide from Monaco and London, England, to provide advanced environmental, ecology, and mold education and training.

The mission of the new internet-based college is to teach practical, in depth, in-demand courses so that its graduates can obtain high paying environmental, ecology, and mold jobs or profitable self-employment.

What distinguishes the Ecology College Online approach to environmental, ecology, and mold education is that the successful completion of each of the available course provides a double benefit for the environmental student:

(1) earned college credits toward the student’s B.S. degree in Ecology; and

(2) immediate professional certification in important environmental specialist designations to empower the student to obtain quickly either a good job or profitable self-employment, even in advance of college graduation, with certifications from the Professional Certification Institute, the environmental training partner of the school.

Currently available online environmental, ecology, and mold education multi-discipline courses and environmental specialist designations include:

(1) Certified Mold Inspector and Certified Mold Remediator;

(2) Certified Toxic Mold Inspector and Certified Toxic Mold Exterminator;

(3) Certified Environmental Hygienist; and

(4) Certified Water Inspector, Certified Water Purifier Specialist, and Certified Air Purifier Specialist.

A course graduate may request that the word “mould” be used in place of “mold” for mold environmental specialty designations for the graduate’s use in a nation which follows the UK English spelling for “mould.”

Worldwide students learn online environmental training on four separate, password-protected environmental education websites: moldknowledge.com, water-inspectors.com, certifiedaircleaner.com, and environmentalhygienist.com, plus specific reading assignments on the large envirosurf.com environmental search engine and moldinspector.com websites.

Ecology College Online also teaches traditional, in person environmental, ecology, and mold school classes and seminars in the U.S.A. and Asia [Philippines].

For additional environmental college information, please visit the school’s website, or email Phillip Fry, Dean of Admissions at dean@ecology-college.com.
